Watertown's Voice for Peace, the Environment, and Social Justice

Current projects of WCES include:

• Supporting legislation to regulate Boston University's proposed biolab -- sign the petition here!
• Advocating for open space and traffic calming measures.
• Encouraging Russo's to offer organic produce through a petition drive.
• Opposing the US invasion and occupation of Iraq.
• Participating in the Restoration Advisory Board, a citizen advisory board monitoring the ongoing Superfund cleanup at the former Watertown Arsenal site and nearby parkland.
• Creating and disseminating a survey to explore whether a link exists between pesticide use and breast cancer in the local area.
• Promoting safety and freedom by curbing those parts of the USA PATRIOT ACT that infringe on our civil liberties.
• Distributing flyers that educate the public about household toxins.
• Supporting projects that promote peace, and seek diplomatic solutions to world problems.
• Monitoring Charles River water quality.
• Encouraging pesticide reduction both in our homes and on town property.
